Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Officer to join a supportive secondary school in the Corby area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers that may affect their attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and engagement with education.

The successful candidate will play an important role within the school's pastoral team, building positive relationships with students and providing consistent support to help them make positive choices and achieve their potential.

The Role

As a Student Support Officer, you will provide pastoral and wellbeing support to students across the school. You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leaders, families and other professionals to identify concerns and put appropriate support in place.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing pastoral and emotional support to students

• Building positive, trusting relationships with young people

• Supporting students with attendance, behaviour and engagement

• Identifying barriers that may be affecting a student's education or wellbeing

• Delivering targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions

• Supporting students to develop positive behaviour and attitudes towards learning

• Helping students develop confidence, resilience and emotional regulation

• Supporting students who may be experiencing difficulties at home or within school

• Working with parents and carers where appropriate

• Liaising with teachers, pastoral teams, SEND staff and external professionals

• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to student support plans

• Supporting safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is empathetic, patient, resilient and passionate about making a difference to young people's lives.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working with young people in a school, pastoral, youth work, care, support or similar environment.

We would also consider candidates with backgrounds in:

• Pastoral support

• Behaviour support

• Mental health and wellbeing

• Youth work

• Counselling

• Social care

• Residential care

• SEND/SEMH

• Mentoring

• Community support

You will need excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a calm approach to challenging situations and the ability to work collaboratively with students, families and professionals.
