Humanities SEMH Specialist Teacher - Full Time (Temp to Perm)

Location: Northampton | Secondary Alternative Provision

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting a passionate and adaptable Humanities SEMH Specialist Teacher to support a client school in Northampton on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis. This role is based within a secondary alternative provision, supporting pupils with SEMH needs who require a more structured, supportive, and individualised learning environment.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging Humanities lessons (such as History, Geography, or RE) to small classes, enabling pupils to re-engage with education and develop both academically and personally. Many learners within the setting have experienced barriers to education, including exclusion or disrupted schooling, so the ability to foster trust and consistency is key.

You will be responsible for planning creative, accessible lessons that meet curriculum expectations while being flexible to pupils' emotional and behavioural needs. Strong behaviour management, clear boundaries, and a relational approach are essential. You will also work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders to ensure pupils receive holistic support.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • Has experience teaching Humanities at secondary level

  • Has experience working with SEMH pupils or in alternative provision (highly desirable)

  • Is resilient, reflective, and solution-focused

  • Is committed to supporting pupils beyond academics
