Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a committed and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive school setting in the Corby area.
What is an SEMH Teaching Assistant?
SEMH stands for Social, Emotional and Mental Health. Pupils with SEMH needs may experience difficulties with emotional regulation, behaviour, relationships, anxiety, or managing their feelings in a classroom environment.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your role is to support these pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. This role is ideal for individuals who are patient, resilient, and passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives.
The Role:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement support strategies
Helping pupils engage positively with learning and routines
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people (SEMH, SEN, youth work, care, or mentoring experience is highly desirable)
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a positive and supportive way
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
