Teaching Assistant (Mental Health Experience)
SEMH School - Corby, Northamptonshire
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with mental health experience to support pupils in a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in the Corby area.
This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional emotional and behavioural needs and who can build positive, trusting relationships.
The Role:
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Assist students with SEMH needs, including anxiety, trauma, and challenging behaviour
Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or mental health needs
Backgrounds in psychology, youth work, care, or mental health support are highly desirable
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
