SEMH Support Assistant
School-Based Role | Corby, Northamptonshire
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a supportive and forward-thinking school in the Corby area, seeking a committed SEMH Support Assistant to work with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

The Role:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs, both 1:1 and in small groups

  • Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Assist teachers in creating a structured, calm, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or mental health needs

  • A calm, resilient, and patient approach

  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills

  • Backgrounds in youth work, care, psychology, or education are highly desirable

  • A genuine desire to make a positive impact in a school setting
