We are working with a welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Northampton that is seeking a confident and capable English Instructor to join their team from May or September 2026. This role is ideal for individuals with prior teaching, tutoring, or classroom experience who are ready to take on more responsibility in a school setting.

This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential to become permanent, offering a fantastic pathway into teaching for the right candidate.

The Role:

  • Deliver pre-planned and structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Support students in developing core skills in reading, writing, and analysis
  • Adapt lesson delivery to suit different abilities, including students with additional needs
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, focused learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with the English department to support student progress
  • Provide feedback on student engagement, behaviour, and attainment

About You:

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, or working with secondary-aged students
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and/or Literature
  • Confident leading a classroom and managing behaviour effectively
  • Keen to develop your career in education, potentially progressing into teacher training
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A degree in English or a related subject is desirable but not essential
