Student Support Officer - Kettering
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026 | Full-Time | Ideally Permanent (Contract or Long-Term Considered)

We are working with a number of secondary schools in Kettering who are looking to appoint a committed Student Support Officer to join their pastoral teams either immediately or from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with experience in youth work, mentoring, behaviour support, or pastoral care who are keen to make a real difference in a school setting.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for students facing behavioural, emotional, or attendance challenges
- Working alongside pastoral leaders, teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement targeted support strategies
- Building strong, positive relationships with students to promote confidence, resilience, and engagement
- Supporting behaviour management across the school, including restorative approaches
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality, working with families to improve outcomes
- Contributing to safeguarding processes and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with young people in a school, youth, or support-based role
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with additional needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
- An understanding of behaviour support, safeguarding, or pastoral care within education
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider support team
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. youth work, counselling, or behaviour support) are advantageous but not essential
