Student Support Officer - Kettering
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026 | Full-Time | Ideally Permanent (Contract or Long-Term Considered)

We are working with a number of secondary schools in Kettering who are looking to appoint a committed Student Support Officer to join their pastoral teams either immediately or from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with experience in youth work, mentoring, behaviour support, or pastoral care who are keen to make a real difference in a school setting.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for students facing behavioural, emotional, or attendance challenges
• Working alongside pastoral leaders, teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement targeted support strategies
• Building strong, positive relationships with students to promote confidence, resilience, and engagement
• Supporting behaviour management across the school, including restorative approaches
• Monitoring attendance and punctuality, working with families to improve outcomes
• Contributing to safeguarding processes and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment

What We're Looking For:

• Experience working with young people in a school, youth, or support-based role
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with additional needs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
• An understanding of behaviour support, safeguarding, or pastoral care within education
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider support team
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. youth work, counselling, or behaviour support) are advantageous but not essential
