Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Corby

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Tradewind Recruitment is working with a supportive secondary school in Corby that is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and helping them achieve both academically and personally.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will help create a positive and nurturing learning environment, build strong relationships with pupils, and support them in overcoming barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
Help students regulate their emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and attendance.
Assist with behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
Promote student wellbeing and support their personal development.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience working with young people, ideally within education, youth work, care, support work, or mental health settings.
A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
An understanding of SEMH needs and the challenges young people may face.
A genuine passion for supporting student wellbeing and mental health.
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
