Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced and confident SEMH Cover Supervisor to join a specialist school in the Corby area.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience leading groups or delivering sessions to young people, alongside a strong understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing classroom cover, delivering pre-planned learning and maintaining a structured learning environment, while supporting students who may experience mental health difficulties, emotional regulation needs or challenging behaviour.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can combine strong classroom or group leadership skills with genuine SEMH experience and an understanding of how to build positive relationships with young people who may face significant barriers to education.
What You'll Be Doing
Supervising classes and delivering pre-planned lessons
Leading groups of students confidently and effectively
Supporting young people with a range of SEMH needs
Managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
Building positive and trusting relationships with students
Supporting emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
Encouraging students to engage with their education
Establishing clear expectations and appropriate boundaries
Delivering small-group activities and interventions
Providing additional one-to-one support when required
Working closely with teaching, pastoral and support teams
Helping maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have two key areas of experience:
1. Experience leading or delivering sessions to groups
This could include classroom cover, teaching, tutoring, coaching, youth work, workshops, training or intervention sessions.
2. Experience or a strong understanding of SEMH
This could have been gained through specialist education, SEN, mental health services, behaviour support, residential care, youth work or another relevant setting.
You will need to be resilient, confident and comfortable supporting young people who may display challenging behaviour or struggle to regulate their emotions.
Most importantly, you'll understand the importance of consistency, patience and positive relationships when working within an SEMH environment.
