Caretaker - Primary School

We are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Corby that is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive Caretaker / Maintenance Technician to join their site team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in maintenance, caretaking, facilities, construction, or a practical trade who wants to use their skills within an educational environment.
The Role
Maintaining school buildings, grounds, fixtures, fittings, and equipment
Carrying out routine and semi-skilled repairs and maintenance
Completing minor building, decorating, flooring, fencing, and repair work
Installing and maintaining fixtures and fittings
Carrying out preventive maintenance and reporting faults or damage
Opening the school and completing daily site and safety checks
Supporting fire, security, emergency lighting, water, and other routine checks
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and site security
Keeping pathways, grounds, fire exits, and access routes safe and clear
Preparing the site for adverse weather conditions
Monitoring heating, utilities, and energy usage
Receiving deliveries and moving furniture and equipment around the school
Setting up rooms for events, assemblies, and meetings
Ensuring tools and equipment are safe, secure, and well maintained
Working closely with school staff to ensure the site remains safe, secure, and fit for purpose
This Role Could Be Ideal If You
Have experience as a Caretaker, Maintenance Technician, Facilities Assistant, Handyperson, Site Assistant, or in a similar role
Have a background in maintenance, construction, property, facilities, or a skilled trade
Are confident carrying out practical repairs and using a range of tools
Enjoy solving problems and working with your hands
Can work independently and use your own initiative
Are reliable, proactive, and take pride in maintaining high standards
Have good communication skills and can work professionally around children and staff
Understand the importance of health & safety and safeguarding
Have previous school experience - desirable but not essential
Hold a relevant trade qualification such as carpentry, electrical, or plumbing - desirable
