Requirements to become a Classroom Teaching Assistant

  • Younger students will have reading and writing tasks that will require your input.
  • You will provide support for teachers in a variety of different classes, especially the larger ones.
  • Help to run an efficient class and ensure all students are getting help and get seen to.
  • Organise teaching material for the class ahead.
  • Help out with school days and the organisation that goes into them.

Do I need qualifications?

The short answer to this question is no, however, having the relevant teaching qualifications will give you a great advantage and make you stand out from the crowd. If you don’t have any qualifications, then we suggest work experience within a school is a definite must have on your CV. Schools tend to employ trusted individuals who have that hands-on experience working in a school, whether it is a week or a month work experience.
