Are you a Science Teacher with experience working with pupils with PMLD, complex needs or significant SEND? Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for passionate and adaptable Science Teachers to support a range of specialist schools and SEND settings across Northamptonshire.

We have opportunities available for both short-term supply bookings and longer-term assignments, giving you the flexibility to choose work that suits your experience and availability. While some bookings may initially be short term, there is also the potential for roles to develop into longer-term or permanent positions where there is a strong fit between you and the school.

The Role

As a PMLD Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons that are adapted to the individual needs and abilities of your pupils. This could involve working with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), SLD, complex physical or medical needs and other significant SEND.

You will be expected to:

• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons that are appropriately differentiated and accessible.
• Adapt lessons and activities to support pupils with a wide range of learning needs.
• Use practical, sensory and creative approaches to make Science meaningful and engaging.
• Support pupils to develop their communication, independence and understanding alongside their academic learning.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and other professionals within the setting.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and create a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and adapt your approach according to individual pupil needs.
• Follow individual EHCP outcomes and support wider personal development.

The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in hearing from Science Teachers who have experience within specialist SEND, PMLD, SLD or complex-needs settings. However, we are also happy to speak with experienced Science Teachers who have a strong understanding of adapting their teaching for pupils with additional needs.

Experience with areas such as sensory learning, communication needs, AAC, PECS, Makaton, physical disabilities or medical needs would be advantageous, but is not essential for every role.
