Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work within a secondary school in the Wellingborough area.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with their education, confidence and personal development. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to students who may require additional support to engage with learning and achieve their potential.

We would love to hear from candidates who have previous experience within education, SEN/SEND, mental health, care, youth work or behaviour support and are looking for a rewarding role within a secondary school.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students

  • Support students with additional learning needs, including SEN/SEND

  • Help young people overcome barriers to learning

  • Assist students with classroom activities and lesson engagement

  • Support students who may struggle with confidence, behaviour or emotional regulation

  • Encourage independence, resilience and positive attitudes towards education

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students

  • Adapt support to meet individual learning and emotional needs

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams

  • Help maintain a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment

  • Monitor student engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

  • Teaching Assistant or Learning Support roles

  • SEN/SEND or SEMH settings

  • Mental health support

  • Behaviour support

  • Youth work or mentoring

  • Children's residential care

  • Support work or social care

  • Psychology or counselling

  • Working with vulnerable children or young people

Previous school experience would be beneficial, but we also welcome applications from candidates with relevant transferable experience.

  • Confident supporting young people with different learning needs

  • Calm and resilient when managing challenging situations

  • Able to build positive relationships with students

  • Understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing

  • Reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic

  • Available for full-time work in Wellingborough
